Guardian Homes at Valaurah’s
“A different way to welcome an exceptional Standard Poodle into your life.”
We are currently accepting applications for a limited number of Guardian Homes
Our Standard Poodle guardian home program in Oregon is designed for families who want to be part of a structured and purposeful breeding program.
Not every home is the right fit for our program—but for the right family, becoming a guardian home is a unique opportunity to be part of something truly special.
At Valaurah Farms, our guardian homes are trusted partners. Each guardian dog is a carefully selected Standard Poodle that represents the future of our program, and they are placed in homes where they will be raised as a beloved companion while remaining part of our breeding program.
This is not a “free dog” program.
It is a structured, long-term partnership built on trust, communication, and shared responsibility.
What is a Guardian Home?
Our Standard Poodle guardian home program in Oregon guarantees that every dog in our program is raised in a permanent, loving home, while we retain breeding rights for period of time.
The dog lives with you as your family companion, while we work together for any breeding-related needs. Once the dog has completed their role in our program, full ownership is transferred to the guardian home.

How the Program Works
A guardian home raises and cares for one of our Standard Poodles as a family companion while Valaurah Farms retains ownership and breeding rights for a set period of time.
The dog lives full-time in your home, and you are responsible for daily care, training, and routine maintenance. We remain involved in planning, communication, and decisions related to the dog’s role in our breeding program.
Depending on the dog, this may include coordination for breeding and temporary return to us for specific periods.
Because of the nature of the program, communication, reliability, and flexibility are essential.
Once the dog has completed their role in our program, full ownership is transferred to the guardian home.
Our Standard Poodles are raised to be not only capable, but deeply connected companions in everyday lifeKey Expectations of Guardian Homes
Guardian homes play a critical role in our program and are expected to maintain a high level of care and communication.
This includes:
Maintaining regular communication with us regarding the dog’s health and development
Prompt reporting of any signs of heat cycles or reproductive changes
Keeping the dog in appropriate condition for health, grooming, and potential showing
Following all veterinary, dietary, and care guidelines as outlined in our agreement
Remaining within a reasonable distance for coordination and program needs
These expectations are in place to ensure the health, safety, and success of both the dog and the program.
