Two New Champions & A New Adventure: Crush, Vanya, and Our First NASDA Trial

The first weekend of September turned into a pretty exciting one for us.

Crush was entered at the Umpqua Kennel Club shows in Roseburg, Vanya was showing at the Cascade American Pit Bull Terrier Club UKC shows, and somehow we ended the weekend with two new Champions.

And because apparently that wasn’t enough, this coming weekend we’re heading to Albany for our very first NASDA trial.

Crush, a black Standard Poodle from Valaurah Farms in Oregon, stacked in the AKC conformation ring during his championship show career. — Crush in the AKC show ring during the weekend he finished his Champion title. During this particular show he got his first Major for his AKC Grand Champion.

Thursday, September 3 | Umpqua Kennel Club

Crush started the weekend under Judge Darryl Vice and got us off to a great start by taking Best of Winners for a 3-point major.

He went into the weekend needing majors, so getting one right out of the gate definitely took a little pressure off.

Friday, September 4 | Umpqua Kennel Club

Friday was another good day for Crush.

Under Judge Michelle T. Schultz, he earned Winners Dog for another 3-point major.

At that point, he had picked up two majors in two days and was getting very close to finishing.

Saturday, September 5 | A New Champion

Saturday ended up being the day.

Crush went Best of Winners under Judge Yvonne Sabard for another 3-point major, officially finishing his AKC Championship.

He finished before his first birthday and with very limited showing, which made it especially exciting. Crush has had a really fun puppy career, and it has been neat watching him start to grow into the dog everyone thought he was going to be when he first came home.

Meanwhile, Vanya was showing at the Cascade American Pit Bull Terrier Club UKC shows.

Jackson showed her in Show 2 under Judge Nancy Eilks, where she earned Best of Winners and picked up more of the points she needed for her Championship.

Sunday, September 6 | Moving Up & Finishing Up

On Sunday, Crush moved up to the Champion class for his first time showing as a Special.

Under Judge Gregg Kantak, he was awarded Best of Opposite Sex for a 4-point major toward his AKC Grand Championship.

So apparently Crush decided there was no reason to take a break after finishing.

Over at the UKC show, Jackson took Vanya back into the ring for Show 1. She earned Best of Winners again, picking up the last few points she needed to officially finish her UKC Championship.

Jackson and Vanya did a fantastic job together all weekend, and it was really fun watching the two of them finish that title as a team.

We also had several dogs out doing performance events during the weekend. Siren, Violet, and Veela ran Precision Coursing, while Magic ran Steeplechase.

I’m going to wait for the official points and results to be processed before I try to say exactly what everyone earned, because there were enough dogs doing enough things that I honestly don’t remember all of it.
