Do you have a preference on the sex of your guardian dog?

Please tell us why you want to be a guardian family? Please also tell us a bit about your lifestyle and home environment?

If you have a guardian female, are you aware that you will be required to relinquish her to us for a period of 8-9 weeks for every breeding we do? Breedings can occur up to twice a year for 2-3 years. Are you and your family emotionally prepared to be separated from your dog for these periods of time? Are you prepared to handle the heat cycles of a breeding female, monitor her heat cycles, and communicate with us? Do you have any knowledge of heat cycles?

If you have a guardian male dog, are you prepared to assist in transporting him to us and/or the female he will be breeding with? We try to give as much notice as possible but notice can be short as 24 hours at certain times. (You will not be required to assist in the breedings.) Are you aware that some breeding males may have issues with marking and/or humping? While this is not common, and good training usually curbs the instinct, we want potential guardians to know about these potential issues.

Are you willing to become part of our team? This may mean I need regular access to your dog for health and coat testing, taking the dog to the reproductive vet (at my expense)? Are you willing to take frequent photos and videos of your guardian dog and send us updates? Are you willing to allow us to visit the dog at our home, your home and in public places?

Do you understand that any and all breeding decisions are the sole responsibility of Valaurah Farms. We value and trust our guardians with the health and well-being of our guardian dogs, however, absolutely no unauthorized breeding will be allowed.

Are you aware of the grooming requirements for poodles and doodles? Are you willing to invest in grooming. When preparing for shows or photoshoots the grooming requirements significantly increase. We will help to cover 75% of grooming costs in preparation for shows and photoshoots, but we need your commitment to following hair care instructions in between grooming appointments.

What do you like and/or dislike about our breeding program? Do you have suggestions for new practices or policies?

Please tell us what you are looking for in a guardian dog. We would like to know about temperament preferences, as well as, sex, color, or anything else that be important to you.

Are you prepared to attend dog training classes to at least achieve a CGC title on your guardian dog? The cost to achieve this title is approximately $130 through the Spokane Valley Dog Training Club (Basically two rounds of 8 week classes). This will be at your expense. If you choose (and we definitely hope you do) to pursue more titles, we will other financial assistance on a case-by-case basis, usually up to half training costs and we will pay trial fees.
